Two blues off to the green

Natis

In this years Euro Cup, newcomer Natis Johansson will take a place on the team after only a few games might come as a surprise for those who have missed out on watching SAFF’s most talanted young player since Rookie of the year awards of 2008. Elks captain Lars “leathal” Hagberg on the squad announcement – “Just as in Södermalm, I wouldn’t trust to leave the role as captain to anyone but to Max. And this guy Natis? I haven’t seen him play, but he’s a Söder boy, means he must be good!” The team is coached by always competent Adrian Knee, Solna. GOOD LUCK!

Home or away? Same same in south Stockholm derby

1-2-3 BAM!

Last weekend, Södermalm defeated Årsta in the second derby of the season. Viewers agreed Åsta still lack the stability and routin to beat well organized Södermalm, despite strong individual performances and a set of young enthusiastic Swedes in the team. Captain Max and Jordo Jr delivered 7 of Söders 12 goals, but it was the return of Marcus Rappacio, Söder veteran, to the goalsheet that got the crowd going mad!

The final score was 93 – 55 to Södermalm and good footy was reassuring, but the news shortly after that Jordo Jr – this years favourite for the SAFF best and fairest – was going back to Oz after being misinformed that winter starts in September already sent chockwaves through the organization. Petter promised to update the club webpage with a climate section straight away, just using his iPhone, and from the President’s office inquireies are being made to order beaneis with the club logo, just to be safe.

Söder heads to Falun, returns triumphant

This saturday Söder kick-started the second half of the season with a big win after long summer break. The opponents were newcomers Falun Diggers who have been struggling so far this year.

Söder came up to picturesque Dalarna with nine players. When the first ball went up, however, eight players were on field after Joel “Iron Guts” Burnell had become umpire. Söder started strong and rapidly took command of the game.

Goal kicking was much improved since last game, partly thanks to the extra space between the goal posts. Söder recruit Natis Johansson showed great skills in the back line keeping Falun scoreless in the first quarter.

Despite the warm weather and outnumbering Söder stayed ahead in the second and third quarter displaying some good footy, moving the ball across the field through hand passes and kicks with good accuracy.

When the last whistle sounded, Söder was comfortably ahead with close to 200 points. A strong statement before the upcoming playoffs.

Söder dig deep to scramble team for falun game

Bye bye Seabass

Södermalm is back in the game after a long summer break, and face Falun Diggers in the only away gameof the year. The Diggers have been struggeling the first half of the season, but can be expected to be strengthened by playing on home turf. “This game is not to be taken lightly, especially not with our latest debacle in mind” coach Paul said, referring to the loss against Solna. Injured Sean “Kungen” on the same subject – “We need to harden the f*** up!”

With a few injuries, some off to vacation, and Lars playing IC Cup in Australia, still the most shocking loss was revealed during the summer break – Austria’s best footy player, the jolly green giant, the man who could sell ice to an eskimo, Sebastian “Seabass” Dorda is leaving Stockholm bound for London with a hot shot job offer. Good luck Seabass!

Back on the footy field, a win against falun would again secure a comfortable lead for the remaining two games befor play off and grand Final.
