What you won’t see on the calendar are some events where you would need to reach out to those particular individuals heading them up. Please do so:

– Andrew Smith is getting some tickets for an ODI at Lords in September: Auz vs Eng.

– Sean Logan is running a trail half-marathon 17th of August just outside Uppsala. There is a full marathon and 10km too. He is also running the Lidingo Loppet (30km), Sunday 29th of September. Any runners out there?

See you at the next Club event, July 5th,

President’s Newsletter March 2015

The season proper is drawing closer and the Södermalm players are sweating out every Sunday evening (and most likely other nights as well, going for runs on their own initiative, isn’t that right guys?)  as the pre season preparations are in full swing.
Today, Saturday the 21st March 2015 is only 5 weeks out from Södermalms first official game. That’s right you read that correctly only 5 weeks! It was hoped that pre-season would have moved outdoors for tomorrows training session but we have been thwarted by the weather. So for the time being the pre season training will continue as before:
Sundays @ 17.00, Globala gymnasiet, near Honrstull Tunnelbana station.
Contacts: Mick Larsson – 076 279 96 14 or Kaj Karlsson – 073 073 26 25
This in turn brings a close to the always well received off season social events.
The club will round off March with the Annual Registration night.
WHAT: Södermalm AFC Registration Night
WHEN: Friday 27th March, 7pm (19:00)
WHERE: O Connels Pub in Gamla Stan. http://www.oconnells.se/
This is great opportunity for players, both past and present as well as our valued social membership group to meet all our new recruits as they get their picture taken with Bluey. As per usual the rumour mill is reporting all sorts of information about Bluey Svenssons attire for the evening. Even thought it is most likely that Bluey will show up with full playing kit the club would prefer it if attendees come in at least a button up shirt and preferably a club tie.
Club Ties and Stubby holders will be on sale for the night and if you forget to bring cash any purchases can be made by bank transfer to the clubs BankGiro.
Please contact the club if you are planning on attending as we have booked a preliminary number of 20. Current members have already received an email about this and a reply YES or NO is required as the club will need to adjust the number of booked seats at the venue.
Memberships for 2015.
NO changes to membership prices this year.
Full Playing member: 1000kr
Student/Unemployed Playing member: 500kr
Social member: 350
Payments are preferred via the clubs BankGiro accout number. However, in an effort to simplify payment of membership fees this year the club will be accepting SWISH transfers to the Presidents Mobile number.
Joel Burnell: 0738 341 357
As an extra incentive, anyone who has paid their membership before or on registration night will receive a free stubby holder OR club tie.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Friday the 27th March.
Go Blues!

Club legend breaks 100 games limit in season premiere

The club hereby recognize the acheivements by Lars ‘Lethal’ Hagberg, who was honored with a medal by the SAFF board after celebrating his 100 game for the blues. The seasoned veteran defender did so by kicking a rarely seen goal in the convincing victory against the Bromma Vikings.

Presented with the 100 games medal, Lethal was met with silent awe from players in rookie-dense Norrtälje and Årsta, almost refusing to believe what they just heared, while the players of Bromma and Solna, being considerably more experienced, still spoke of his consistency over the years with the outmost respect.

For players of Södermalm, and for the club as a whole, Lars is indeed appreciated as a person, a reliable team mate, a source of inspiration, and most valued for his contribution to the club on and off the field. Here’s to another 100 games Larry!

Celebrating 100 games

New players, new coach, new team?

Södermalm is happy to present this season’s new recruits. Ben ‘Big C’ Condon and Jonas ‘JJ’ Jormedal recieved their official Södermalm jersey at registration nightand before an enthusiastic crowd of Söder players. We also expect great performances from Rob ‘Mr T’ Njoku, Luke ‘warm’ Croome and to draw advantage from the experience of  Daniel ‘D-day’ Perillo, a seasoned veteran of Dynamite 2006!

When the Club blue ribbon committee, consisting of previously elected honourary members, presented to the AGM early January, the nomination of “Lethal” Lars Hagberg to join their numbers, the answer was yes in one voice.
Södermalm AFC would like to present some of Larry’s acheivements for the Club, which speak for themselves.

Natis can’t stop, won’t stop

Just when you thought you heard enough of this guy Natis for one season, he comes back like a boomerang. Now he’s topping off the  Euro Cup success with being selected for the JLT Group All-Stars to play the  curtain raiser to the AFL European Challenge Cup to play in London the 3rd of November, together with Helsingborg’s Johan Lantz and The Elks own Coach McClear as manager. Clearly the brightest shining star in SAFF at the moment, Natis commented simply – “too bad none of the other Söder boys came to play the Euro Cup, then I’d have some company for the trip” Don’t know about that, but we’re all exited for Natis’ sake and are sure he will make his mark on the game.

Söder build for future victories at JCG

So it was said, so it shall be cemented into the ground!  With those epic words club life honorary member Danne Jordansson, project manager, kicked off the working bee session to lay the foundation for the new footy field in Stockholm. The Södermalm working company consisting of  diggers “Nate dog” Natis,  Berger and Tarzan, completed by turbo mixers “Big boi” Brad and “the O-train” Oscar, all supervised by quality assurance officer Larry Lethal, took the opportunity of a short break in the seasonal monsoon to dig holes and filling them with the 2 tonnes of concrete needed for 8 goal posts.

When the flag poles – sorry – goal posts are up, we will be able to say that we have the best oval in the SAFF leauge. Stay tuned to come and see your favourite team at the JCG!

Söder inspect new field

The new pitch at Skarpnäck have some advantages compared to Årstafältet. Just to name a few – 10 or so changing rooms, functional toilets and showers, full time greenkepers and possibility to play up to 16-aside. This year, söder will play its home games at Skarpnäck, save for double headers. Goal posts are not up yet though, stay tuned for a working bee training session under the competent supervision of Daniel “byggare Bob” Jordansson.

Club welcome new sponsor

Södermalm AFC is proud to announce that both Södermalms trä and O’Learys Liljeholmen has chosen to continue their support for the club for another season. Their support the past seasons has been absolutely vital for the development of the club and of footy in the Stockholm region.

We are also happy to welcome Haninge industrigolv as our new sponsor! The immediate result will be seen on our new set of polo shirts which are included in the membership fee for 2012. If you can’t join for registration night at O’Learys Liljeholmen, Fri 16th, make to pay your rego, or social membership, and get your hands on the one of a kind, custom designed, club polo.

Södermalm AGM and bowling kick off 2012

Meanwhile, at the club AGM, a new board was voted in and the old one was duly appreciated for it’s efforts during the previous year. The new board consist of Lars Hagberg, President, Andrée Hansing Årman, Vice President, Marcus Rappocio, secretary, and ex-Prez Ivan Rexed was elected Treasurer after successfully campaigning with the catchy slogan “it’s the economy, stupid!

More exciting is the fact that the club had the opportunity to welcome three new players, Kaj “Kajan” Karlsson, Jamie “the jailbird” Owen with brother Nick-O, who was  curiously seated between the two Steve-O’s, once again bound for Oz. We expect great thing of the newcomers!

Big Dave Farrow joined for bowling, but althought the top scorer with 169, the results didn’t stand tall compared to last year’s club record of 245 points by the Bull. The 10-pin bowler prize was a club tie. Take a minute to check out this animation from the photos of bowling night.

Oh, yes, it\’s bowling alright!
