Before the game coach Cameron lit the fuse that would ignite the bomb called Sweden Elks; AFL had decided to put the Swedish national team in the 2nd group in the International Cup. All the players were determined to show the AFL that they did not agree with this decision, and they did show them!

Even though for the first time in history a team had a quiet night on the boat over the Finnish Icebreakers could not stop the Elks. The Swedish midfield effectively stopped the Finnish attacks keeping the Finnish score to zero for the first 3 quarters. Persistence from the Finns finally put them on the score board in the last quarter. An inspirational win and a boost for the Swedish confidence.
