Wrap up of the SAFF league

When the whistle blew to mark the end of Solna Axemen vs. Bromma Vikings it was also time to recap the SAFF league 2012 and look forward to the play-off. And what a season! Norrtälje, newcomers in the league, finished off with a bang by claiming their first win against the Årsta Swans in the last round. Södermalm thought to go undefeated through the series but fell on the last hurdle against a pumped-up Bromma. Some say the Blues put  focus on the upcoming footy trip instead of the actual footy, some say they got a bit to comfortable with the great pitch and hygienic changing rooms at Skarpnäck to get their hand dirty at Årsta. Wich ever, it was surely a wake-up call before the final! Tension grew as it came clear that the Vikings could even clain the minor premiership on better percentage by winning the last game against the Axemen. Only after official SAFF sources confirmed the margin would have to be 250 points the hornets nest quieted to a buzz. Be sure this will be used as fuel in the final!

Axemen vs. Solna then turned into a prequel of the semi-final to come. In wet conditions, Solna came out strong and grabbed the lead by four or five goals already in Q1, and it would take all the way to last quarter for the Vikings to turn it around. The final score of Solna 66 (9-12) to Bromma 70 (10-10) reflected the poor conditions the game was played in more than the quality of the two teams.

Semifinal, Bromma Vikings vs. Solna Axemen (8/9) and final, Södermalm vs. winner (15/9) are played at Årstafältet, both at 11.30am. Make sure to come down and support your favorite team!
