For their Viking AusKick day Bromma had kindly invited the Söder juniors to take part. Hugo, Leon and Alex turned up and had a great session together with the Bromma juniors. Gills, Pat and Rappa guided the young football players practicing handballing, kicking, picking the ball off the ground and all the other drills the big boys do. They finished off with a scratch match before enjoying the post game BBQ. The kids had a great time thanks to a great effort by all involved. The future’s looking bright for footy in Stockholm.
Next up was the last home and away game for Bromma and Söder. The sun was beating down as the two teams stepped onto the field at noon. Jordo had ordered an eight goal win and it started out well with a couple of quick goals for Söder. Bromma answered straight away and although Söder had the wind, the first quarter ended with a 2 goal lead to Bromma. The second quarter belonged to Bromma, they kept winning the centre play and the ball seemed to bounce their way all the time. If it hadn’t been for Max as full back the margin would have been much more than 5 goals at half time. During the break Jordo informed the guys what needed doing; more tackling! Well Tony and Mattias listened, they went straight out and put on a couple of hard hits. Good to see the tackling machine in form. The third quarter was all about Söder. Rob and Mick dominated the ruck and the midfielders controlled the play. Several goals were scored straight from the ruck where the ball was tapped down to Dylan who moved it up to Tanka, quick and surgical. The O-train put on the big boot and is now catching up with Dylan in the goal kicking competition. After kicking 6 goals to 1 Söder was in the lead by 4 points going into the final quarter, playing uphill and against the wind. “If we win the quarter we win the game” was the motto. The final quarter was a very tight affair where the ball moved from one end to the other. Hard work by Bull kept the Bromma score low and in the end Söder did win the quarter and the game.
A fantastic come back after being down by 5 goals at half time and also great to see the new players Martin and Mattias picking up the game so fast.
Final score:
Södermalm 12.12 84
Bromma 11.12 78
