‘TOP SPOT ALMOST SECURED!’ by Tanka

It was a rematch of the 2010 and 2011 preliminary finals, the 2009 grand final, it was 2 old foes locking horns yet again, yep it was Söder versus Bromma. In the absence of Captain Max Larsson, Petter Eek took on the role as captain in his 50th game.

The game commenced as expected, it was hard, tough, and of course sloppy in the drenched fields of Årstafältet. A low scoring first quarter saw Bromma go in with a 2 point lead, both sides only managing 2 goals each.

The 2nd quarter was very different with Söder flexing their muscles and really showing Bromma who was boss out there. Söder kicked goal after goal after goal and played exceptionally well in the difficult conditions finishing with 7 goals to 1 to set up a commanding lead. An excellent quarter by the guys, especially when you consider the conditions.

It was a lot closer after the main break, however Söder still extended their lead in the 3rd quarter, and by the 4th quarter started the game was well and truly over. Both teams really just playing out time in the last quarter. At the end of the day it was Södermalm who were victorious 96 to 47 and a tough hard-fought game at Årsta.

A very good team effort by the lads today with each and every player contributing in some way. Only a disaster could see Södermalm knocked off top spot now. Our next match is against Norrtälje on Friday evening at 18:30 most likely at Årsta (although rumours have suggested that the game could be moved to The JCG). Either way, nothing less than a good solid performance is required by the Söder folk.
