Söder on top before the summer break

The last SAFF round before summer break was a double header in Norrtälje. Both games were played in what must now be known as typical Norrtälje weather; rain. Solna took on Norrtälje in the first game and the Axemen who came up with a strong squad managed to beat the Dockers comfortably. Söder went up against a diminished but not demoralized Årsta. Although Årsta only had 7 on the field, with Thor and Rob constantly running between backs and forwards they looked more like 9. The 1st quarter was fairly even and due to windy conditions and poor kicking the Blues went to the first break win only a small lead. Coach Paul had the remedy; more determination and attack to the ball, and don’t all bunch up around the ball. The second quarter saw an improved Söder with Mick distributing the balls from the center to Kaj and Natis. iGuts controlled the back line and kept the Årsta score to a minimum. At half time Söder was in the lead by approximately 5 goals. In the second half Söder managed to use space and number superiority with The Bull, Nick and the O-train running loose on the wings. Berger was instrumental in moving the ball through the center by setting up several 1-2 hand balls. Not the team’s best effort but as the siren went Söder is still undefeated and going in to the summer break on top of the ladder.
