Last week’s loss seemed to have shattered the Söder boys as only 9 players turned up for the game against Solna. Stand in coach this week Paul did what he had to and calmly explained how they would have to play to win the game. The guys nodded their heads and went out on the field and did just that.
There was a definite change in tune compared to last week. Hard in for the ball, hand ball options and lots of voice was the new melody. Especially all the talk put Söder one step ahead and Ivan got so excited that he couldn’t shut up even after the game. After the first quarter Söder had the lead.
The word from the coach was to slow down the game in order to frustrate Solna. The back line put up a solid defense, the mid field neutralized the quick Solna runners and the forward line kept presenting. This paid off and at half time Söder was still in front.
In the third quarter the two teams went head to head in terms of goals. Up the forward line Timby had three players rotating on him and still ran rings around them. It looks like nothing can stop this guy and we’re expecting great things from him in the future.
After the third quarter the players realized that they were still ahead and not even puffing. The key was to keep on playing the same way. Half way through the 4th quarter, with Söder still in front, Iron Guts rolled his ankle and was out for the game. Luckily Seabass had turned up for the last quarter so Söder could continue with 9 on the field. The incident led to slight disarray in the back line and Solna managed to conceive a few quick goals which got them in front. In the end Söder lost the game but it almost felt like a win after such a good performance with only 9 players.
