Söder Go Ice Fishing

The annual Club Ice fishing was held again in the last weekend of february! It drew a strong attendance on the back of the successful ice fishing trip the previous year.

After a picturesq day of fishing in the quiet town of Smedjebacken in södra dalarna, nearly all the boys went home with satisfaction of a great days fishing. celebrations were had all night long specially watching the womens curling take out the gold medal! Some gold medals from the days fishing are as follows:-)

Sam ‘ Big Blue’ Austin took the prize of smallest fish. 1 aborre 4cm! he had no problem landing thru the 15cm dia. hole in the ice! whispers were that the fish was newly born and that was the reason Sam gave CPR (capture, photo release). Well done Blue!

The biggest fish went to Micke “half glass” Perez landing a 130cm pike, after a 45 mintue battle with the beast! and just fitt hold the winner aloft. The award of “The fisk fitter” can only go to one man. Joelly “iron guts” Burnell, having been the only man not to bag a fisk all day, with strong determination we all know he has, the dual club B&F , decided to stay back alone, in the hope to land the big one. Photos can be seen of hope and inspiration as the remaining partys head for the cabin. Alas, several hours later and a 13 km hike over the mountain in the snow and dark, joel made it back to the cabin. he had with him 1, 30cm Röding. unfortunately for joel, the smokey taste in the dark, had given him away, as he had purchased it at Konsum on the way home! nice try mate.

Last but not least, Jordo, takes the award for “polar plunge!”, after doing the butterfly for 5 mins in 80cm of fresh snow. He also cleaned the boys up at Rummy/500/chess thru the course of the weekend.

A good time was had by all!! And there is speculation of the fishing trip in feb 2011 being extended to include skiing!

Next event is curling on tuesday 23rd of March, contact Lars for info/confirmation.
